Cincinnati – Two robberies stopped in less than twelve hours

FOX19.com-Cincinnati News, Weather

Crime victims shoot robbers in separate incidents

3 shot during attempted robbery in Lockland

In separate incidents less than 12 hours apart, crime victims fought back by shooting robbers Sunday and early today, killing one suspect and injuring three.

Criminals are cowards that don’t want to face armed citizens. If they thought that more of their potential victims might be armed, they wouldn’t be as bold and would commit fewer crimes.

In both cases, the crime victims were not hurt.

Two workers at the Sunoco gas station off Hamilton Avenue in Springfield Township fired their weapons after a gunman shot at them during a hold-up just before 12:30 a.m. today, police said.

The suspect, a man in his late teens or early 20s, died at the scene. His name has not been released.

Earlier, about 3 p.m. Sunday, the victim of a street robbery in Lockland opened fire on three suspects, injuring all three. They were treated at University Hospital and released.

No charges have been filed in either case while police investigate and consult with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

And then the obvious is stated:

While law enforcement officials don’t recommend people take matters into their own hands, others say sometimes it’s just unavoidable.

“Sometimes it’s just unavoidable.” That one, simple statement crystalizes a simple concept that so many people seem to be incapable of grasping. No law abiding citizen wants to shoot another person, but situations arise when there is no alternative. It’s for those unfortunate situations that we carry, and we hope and pray that we never find ourselves left with no alternative but to draw our weapon.
